State Officials Host Town Hall Meeting about commercial service at Paine Field

This is important!  State Representatives Marko Liias and Mary Helen Roberts and State Senator Paull Shin will host a community Town Hall meeting about recent efforts to bring commercial passenger aviation to Paine Field, the issues and how citizens can get involved.
Join us on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The New Mukilteo City Hall Council Chambers, 11930 Cyrus Way, Mukilteo, WA.

Issues to be discussed include:
* How citizens can be involved in the process
* Impact of property values
* Impact on Boeing and other Industrial users
* Noise monitoring and mitigation
* Traffic and parking impacts

Snohomish County is making plans for a “possible” terminal at Paine Field.  Their flawed logic goes something like this:  if we build a small terminal, then we can control the total size and “limit” the amount of flights.

But reality is more like this:  if Snohomish County pays to build a terminal with OUR tax dollars, then they are opening the door for full blown commercial air service.  We all know that once the door opens, it is WIDE open.  We need to let our legislators and the County know that we won’t accept this!

In the end, growth of air service at Paine Field will crowd out Boeing and the home-owners here and encourage all of use to relocate elsewhere.  Why are we doing this?  Why use our tax dollars during an economic downturn, for something WE DON’T WANT?  We need to tell our legislators, the County Council and County Executive Aaron Reardon that we’ll remember this at the polls in the next election.  “I will hold them accountable for costing me equity in my home and reneging on a 30 year old promise to maintain the quality of life in our community.” (SOC Board member.)
